PhemosReach vs Buffer: a scheduler, or the whole content loop

By PhemosReach, a Modus Future product · Published · Buffer facts checked

Buffer is a scheduler. You write the post, Buffer sends it out on time, and it does that job well.

PhemosReach schedules too. It also does the four jobs that come before scheduling, which are where the week actually goes: finding something worth saying, writing it in your voice, checking it against your brand rules, and getting it approved. Scheduling is the last step, not the whole product.

We make PhemosReach, so every Buffer fact below links to the Buffer page it came from.

"Not listed" means Buffer's pricing page does not mention it, which is not the same as Buffer being unable to do it. PhemosReach prices are on our pricing page.

It writes in your voice, not a generic one

Give PhemosReach your own writing and it builds a voice profile from it: 5 samples on Free and Starter, 10 on Pro, 20 on Business. From Pro you can give each channel its own persona, so LinkedIn and TikTok do not sound like the same post pasted twice.

Your brand guidelines go into every draft and every draft is checked against them before you see it. Drafts can start from what your niche is talking about this week rather than a blank box. One draft becomes a thread, a carousel, a poll or a caption, and each is previewed against the network's own character limit. You can also talk a voice note into a post.

Images are generated with the post on every plan. From Pro they follow your brand's style, carousels get generated slides, and long-form articles and newsletters are included.

Approval you can tighten or relax

By default every post goes through two checks: the script first, then the image, then approval. Nothing publishes until someone says yes.

On Business you can build your own multi-step approval workflows, with viewer, editor, reviewer, admin and owner roles, and give each brand its own route. When a brand has earned your trust you can switch on auto-approve for that brand alone. It needs an explicit opt-in and either a daily cap or a monthly budget, so a busy week cannot turn into a surprise bill.

Buffer's pricing page lists approval workflows on its Team plan, from $12 a month per channel. It does not list auto-approve.

Scheduling with rules, not just a queue

From Starter, each connected account gets its own cadence: posts per day or week, active days and hours, and its timezone. The calendar suggests the next best time to post, from your own engagement history once you have some and a sensible starting point before then. The same post cannot be queued twice for the same account and time, and a post that stalls mid-send is marked failed so you can retry it instead of guessing.

On Free, a post publishes when you approve it; scheduled posting starts on Starter.

Several brands, connected to the rest of your stack

Pro runs 3 brands and Business runs 10, each with its own queue, voice and approvals. From Pro, PhemosReach connects to HubSpot, Salesforce, Marketo or Pardot. Notion pages can feed your content briefs on every plan. On Business you can bring your own AI key and keep the spend on your own account.

What it costs, worked through

A team of three, ten channels, every post approved first. Approval on Buffer means the Team plan: $120 a month for ten channels, or $100 billed yearly, and your team still writes every post. Business is $99/month for up to 5 team members, 50 channels across ten brands, custom approval workflows, and the drafts and images written for you.

One person, three channels. Buffer Essentials for three channels is $18 a month, or $15 billed yearly, to schedule posts you have written. Pro is $29/month for ten channels across three brands, with the posts, images and carousels drafted in your voice.

PhemosReach plans measure AI use in monthly credits. Business includes 28,000 credits/mo; the plan cards show what that buys. Buffer's paid plans schedule unlimited posts under a fair use policy, because Buffer is not writing them.

Networks

Buffer's own developer guide lists the networks it validates posts for. Compared with the networks PhemosReach publishes to:

  • Both: X, LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest and Mastodon.
  • PhemosReach, not in that Buffer guide: Reddit, Discord, Telegram, WhatsApp and Tumblr.
  • Buffer, not PhemosReach: Google Business Profiles.

Check the guide if one network decides it for you. Ours are on the integrations page.

When Buffer is still the right call

If you already write every post and only need them sent, Buffer's free plan schedules across three channels at no cost. Buffer also lists a comment inbox and analytics reports, and its Team plan has no cap on team members; Business stops at five. PhemosReach is new and has no customer stories to show you yet.

Try it on one channel

The free plan is 1 brand, 1 channel with no card. Add five writing samples, approve one post, and see whether the draft sounds like you.
