PhemosReach vs Hootsuite: team approvals without per-seat pricing

By PhemosReach, a Modus Future product · Published · Hootsuite facts checked

Hootsuite is a large social media suite: publishing, an inbox, listening, analytics and reporting, priced per user. For a big team that lives in it all day, that breadth is the point.

A small team usually needs something narrower and harder to get right: posts that sound like the brand, checked before they go out, without paying for a seat per person. That is the part PhemosReach does. It writes the drafts in your voice, checks them against your brand rules, and holds each one for approval on every plan, at one price for the whole team.

We make PhemosReach, so every Hootsuite fact below links to the Hootsuite page it came from.

"Not listed" means Hootsuite's plans page does not mention it, which is not the same as Hootsuite being unable to do it. Hootsuite prices are in US dollars, per user per month, billed annually. PhemosReach prices are on our pricing page.

Approval is in every plan, not the $399 one

Hootsuite lists "review and approve content with your team" on Advanced, at $399 per user per month. Every PhemosReach plan, including Free, holds each post for review by default: the script first, then the image. Nothing publishes until someone says yes.

Business, at $99/month for the whole plan, adds multi-step approval workflows with viewer, editor, reviewer, admin and owner roles, and a route per brand. When a brand has earned your trust you can switch on auto-approve for that brand alone, with an explicit opt-in and either a daily cap or a monthly budget.

One price for the team, not one per person

Hootsuite prices every plan per user. PhemosReach prices per plan: Business includes up to five team members, you among them, ten brands and 50 channels. Adding the second, third or fifth person does not change the bill.

The drafts are written in your voice

Hootsuite's Standard plan lists AI that generates posts and images. PhemosReach starts earlier and narrower: a voice profile built from your own writing samples, drafts that start from what your niche is talking about this week, a check against your brand guidelines on every draft before you see it, and the image generated with the post. From Pro, each channel can have its own persona, images follow your brand's style, carousels get generated slides, and long-form articles and newsletters are included.

What it costs, worked through

One person, up to ten accounts. Hootsuite Standard is $99 a month, billed annually, and you write the posts. Pro is $29/month for three brands and ten channels, with the drafts, images and carousels written in your voice and every post held for your approval.

A team of three that needs approvals. Approvals on Hootsuite mean Advanced: three seats at $399 is $1,197 a month, billed annually. Business is $99/month, or $990 a year, for up to five people, custom approval workflows, ten brands and the drafts written for you.

PhemosReach plans measure AI use in monthly credits: Business includes 28,000 credits/mo, and the plan cards show what that buys. Hootsuite's Standard plan lists unlimited scheduled posts, with a footnote, because you are the one writing them.

When Hootsuite is still the right call

If your team answers comments and messages all day, watches competitors and needs custom reports, Hootsuite's plans list an inbox, brand and competitor monitoring and custom performance reports, and its Enterprise plan adds single sign-on. It also schedules Instagram Stories and Reels, which PhemosReach does not publish. PhemosReach is new and has no customer stories to show you yet.

Try it on one channel

The free plan is 1 brand, 1 channel with no card, and it does not expire. Add five writing samples, approve one post, and see whether the draft sounds like you.
